Yep., I can totally relate to the age and health thing. I turned 65 last month and it was a hard number to accept. Seriously. Toughest one so far. Health issues too.

But at least I no longer need to buy hunting or fishing licenses. Free for old guys here in FL.

I love that Homer Simpson quote. "If I'd known that I was going to live this long, I would've taken better care of myself!" And he was 39!

As is par for the course the wind is up to near 30 mph and gusting so no repaint today . I can still do the scratching up process though , as long as i get out there before 11.00 am, whoops already too late . 108* tis the target temp for my area today so looks like minimal forward progress . Maybe I'll get a break tomorrow.
Sure would like to get this little project done , they are slaughtering the Kokanee , Rainbows and salmon here not to mention a ongoing bass bite. I've had the strangest desire to go catch some crappie lately too. Guess I need to catch another gear somehow.

repaint is done ! No matter what I'm finished with shooting paint on these window frames. Of course when mixing the paint and before shooting the 2nd coat of primer the %$*%^^%$#$# wind started up and by the time I was done with the second primer coat the wind was blowing around 6-8 mph. I had already mixed up the black so I had to shoot the 1st and 2nd coats of black with an 8 to 10 mph wind aggravating things all the way. I even had my wife stand in back of me with a 6 ft umbrella trying to block the wind a little but no go , she was too afraid of getting paint on her that the last words I heard as she disappeared into the house were bastard or something like that .
I guess I can live with the paint job as is , don't think I can do better without a way to paint indoors or make a paint booth so screw it. It does have a deep scratch looking place in it that must be from a bug landing in the fresh paint and dragging itself out . May try a little touch up tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the moment of truth as it will be time to mount and match up the walkthrough window.

man , ain't that the truth . If i do much more painting that needs to look good I am going to build a frame out of 2" pvc and make a paint booth . Won't have heat but should go a long way towards wind block, bugs and falling debris .
I need to get this boat in the water, I'm getting tired of fishing from the bank and waiting hours for a bite.

Here's a stupid question , what is my Cobra outdrive made out of ? I thought it was some kind of plastic but it sure could be aluminum . Guess I can go out and scratch the paint down to the base with my pocket knife to see .

got one side of the windshield screwed down and the other set into place. I'm not going to screw down the other side until I get my center window back from the glass shop, it was badly cracked.
I wasted half of the paint i mixed and forgot all about the center glass frame , oh well , I have a little more paint. Sure pays to shop around because after my usual used parts guy did not have the rite center piece , I call two of my local glass shops to find that one wanted 230.00 and the other 60.00 , go figure. Almost makes me want to open up a glass shop.

good to here aluminum it sure sounds like some kind of plastic when you bump a wrench against it. After I chase all the black widows out from that area I'm going to paint it with some supposedly Original OMC outdrive paint . Comes in a rattle can so not so sure . Only thing is the Price is about 40 bucks a can , wowser , but the boat will look so much better with the freshly painted outdrive and stern. Nope not painting the stern black just the outdrive. In fact it looks like I may paint the stern and the sides of the hull between the red, white and blue pinstripes and the splash rail.. Just need to figure out where to get the paint and match what I've got. That is a few days away yet , if the wind will stop blowing my step ladder over and we see a few days a week back in the 90*s.

windshields are in waiting on the center piece. The first re-do of my side panels is in ,Got the red white and blue in there this time , looks a lot better that the first attempt. Inchin along here but getting stuff done . Between the wind and the heat with the smoke from all these fires around us a little is all I'm likely to get done a day.

staring the second side panel . had to trim some of the foam back that had deteriorated and flip it upside down then glue new foam on . Will trim to shape after glue is dry. Got to get the little women to begin sewing my front cushions soon. If she would finish the engine cover ( another remake ) I could actually go for a boat ride soon .

Piddlin along but looking like I'm getting something done anyway.

The Red , White and Blue segments and the grey segments were tucked into the cracks of the foam and then stapled on the back of the board. I did not sew the grey to the the red, white and blue .This gives me the ability to drill holes and mount the side panel without the screws showing and does not affect the Vinyl like my first attempt that had to be aborted.

Second side panel a done deal, well almost , still need to mount the little cubby hole that goes next to the passenger and then of course mount the side panel itself.
