My new '95 VIP Valiant 1996 I/O (Lotsa Pics)

Picked this up a few weeks ago, the guy was asking $5800 for it but it was very dirty, trailer needed new tires, and it needed a tune-up...So i got it for $4600. It was oxidized badly. The first few pics are before pics and while I was doing the polishing. It has a 4.3LX mercruiser with an Alpha 1 drive.

I also installed a new sony xPlod stereo and as of today I got rid of the hydrofoil and threw on some smart tabs.

Anyone else have one of these?

Mine is a 1996 Vision, One thing we do have is the same trailer. I changed the winch post out, if you get off to one side you will gouge your boat. Here's some pics of mine.

Yes, if it leans or you get off center. I guess that's how it was like that when I bought it.So to keep it from happening to me I changed the whole winch stand assembly.

Nice boat, i have one exactly like that same color and everything. You did a great job cleaning it up, did you have to clean the seats they look great and if so what did you use to clean them with?

Thanks! post some pics. Yes they were full of mildew, I used this stuff called purple power. It took a long time and I'm not sure it was the best thing I could have used. I've heard good things about Tilex tile cleaner, but it has bleach in it so you'd have to be very careful not to get it on the carpet.

Heres a couple pics of mine, i need to get some updated ones I took these when I was looking at it to buy a couple of years ago. hey when you put the smart tabs on yours did it make a big difference and was there much to installing them. thanks

Sharp boat. Yes, the smart tabs made a world of difference. Easily worth the money. Had them on in an hour, all you need is a drill and a screwdriver. And maybe a beer or two.

Hey where on your vip did you put your Smart tabs, I was looking at the back of my boat and wondering where they would have to go, did you have to move them down closer into the middle to get them to work or did you use the stainless steel ones and keep them out further?

I used the stainless ones and put them in a little bit, Just far enough to get the hydraulic rams to clear those things that stick out the back of the hull.

Nice to see another VIP close to home. I have an 01 VIP 1996 SBRXL, not sure what the difference is they look almost identical. I'll post up some pics soon as I get the chance.

Hey do your smart tabs make the water shoot up in the middle of your wave about 20 feet back or so? I put mine on and it does that to my wake.

I have to trim up the drive more than I used to without the tabs.
