My little Garmin 205 nuvi gets me back to landing everytime.

I don't have a gps mounted on my boat so I take my 205 nuvi with me . I save the landing in my favorites and watch the garmin as I go down the lake. I"m a new boat owner and this is the 3rd time I've had the boat on the water. It shows the lake outline with islands and the direction I'm headed. No lake maps installed just right out of the box. At least now I know I can always make it back to the landing unless I get it wet or the battery dies.

GPS is truly an awesome tool. Try plugging it in to the cigarette lighter, better yet get a waterproof marine model. We've got three GPS's on our boat (we go offshore).

I plan on getting a unit that has combination fishfinder and gps. (sorry about posting in wrong forum).

I use a handheld Garmin with topo maps loaded in. It gives me every detail, compass, direction back to the dock, and tracking that I can follow back yard by yard.
