My fishfinder just shows me 1.3 ft depth now wherever I am.

It’s a Garmin 160 Blue. Been a workhorse for 15+ years. Zero issues. It’s never been good at giving good depth while running, probably the transducer placement could be better, but it always recovered when I stopped, and after 10 seconds or so of no cavitation, the true depth would pop up. Not any more. Now it just shows 1.2ft or 1.3ft no matter if I’m running or not, no matter if I’m at the dock or where I know it’s deep. Power cycling doesn’t help. The transducer looks fine, there’s no nasties on it or obvious damage. I think it just may be time to replace it. Here’s a picture:

After 15 years I’d say it’s time to treat yourself to a new unit. Cheers

Check the pin and socket connections and clean them carefully. if that doesn’t help, go shopping.

The piezo in the transducer is shot. Time for a new unit

I agree with the others, time for a new unit you got your moneys worth. Just for a fast test unplug the xducer cable and see if the readings change.

You are lucky, I gave never had a transducer last for 15 years !! Most I have ever gotten was less than 10 years and the problem has always been the transducers !!! To costly to just replace the transducer so upgrade the whole thing !!!
