1971 Starcraft 160 SS with a 1978 55hp Johnson. Previous owner did all the hard work replacing all the wood flooring , panels, rivets, repainted and sealed hull and top cap and more. I rewired and did the engine refurb along with some upgrades not pictured in these photos when I bought her. Fun little boat that still gets compliments 50 years later.

she's a beauty! you don't see uncovered / unpainted wood very often...it's really nice!

how is traction when it's wet?

Hey Rasdiir, thank you very much. Being a carpenter many years ago and still doing my own wood projects this look caught my eye and really fell in love with the little boat.

Welcome to the Starcraft club! You have one of the most popular and prolific aluminum boats ever, the 16' Super Sport.

You may find the old twin cylinder 55 horse Johnny a bit under powered for that size boat but they are a nice little motor. I had one on a 16' Sea Nymph that took a bit or work but it turned out to be a great little motor.

Thank you Watermann, I see they do have a solid fan base, lol. So far it’s been a great little boat. The motor runs great at top end (32mph) but needs a little fine tuning down bottom. No worries though, this seems to be a great source of information from like minded owners, thanks again

Welcome and nice boat.
What is the S/N on the rating plate?

Hello DLNorth, well I hate to think I’m misrepresenting my little boat. I’ve been in the marine industry a long time and I know this is too early to follow the HIN guidelines and the numbers don’t seem to follow that sequence so maybe someone here knows for sure. The HIN# is 978960, thanks for any info

That S/N fits right at the start of 1971 on the list I keep of other Starcraft boats, as does the glass windshield and bow rail that is tappered down.
I have 978027 that is reported to be a 1970 and a 992140 a 1971.

Thanks DLNorth, glad to know she’s an original. I’ve tried to do my own research but information is limited and hard to come by before the 1972 standards, thanks again
