Hello all,
I am new to this site, but after reading a few posts I can see this is the right place to be for boaters.
I have a merc 70hp outboard, I think its an 198x model, 3 cyclinder.
I think it needs to have to carbs syncronized.
At first I thaught my throtle/gear cables where loose, but I inspected it with engine open, and tested moving idle and gear controls, and can see that it is indeed moving wot.
From what my boater friends tell me it is a sync issue I have, as after about half way it runs fine, when I nail the throttle wot, it feels like it's about to stall. I let off abit, slowly try, sometimes it will go..... then once planed, out of nowhere I get another boost in power out of nowhere.
I am a newbie, but could someone paint a picture as to what I need to do. I've read about cam followers? idle acjustment screws, top and bottom....
Any help would be much appreciated, would like to go pickeral fishing this weekend in the grand river.
Thanks!
