My engine dies at idle? Need Help

I have a problem with my 140 hp Evinrude, it dies at idle, i am not sure if it is the VRO. Please help me. It dies only at idle.

clean carbs?? your low speed jets may be clogged. if you haven't cleaned or re-built your carbs and it has sat for any period of time i would reccomend a carb job.

I also have a 140 85 and it is a VRO. Had same <br />problem. Make sure there is no water in your gas.<br />Check your compression and make sure all of your <br />plugs look like they are firing the way they should.<br />Any "clean" looking plug mean that your getting<br />water in that cylinder. Check head gasket for tears, grooves, scoring, etc. Good luck.<br />Do this before you service your carbs.

i will clean my carbs today, it looks like there is no water in my cyls. I´ll tell you guys tomorrow, the results of the carbs job. thanks.

Ok, i just installed my carbs cleaned. But i have a problem now, my engines do NOT turn off, it doesnt die. I don´t know what to do, some friend told me it could be the ground of the switch or something like that...Please, help needed.

Somewhere you have dissconnected the black wire with a yellow tracer stripe. That is the engine "shut off" circuit. make certain that is is connected up to the keyswitch. also make certain the "other" black wire at the keyswitch is making good ground.... Good Luck !
