Very nice John!!! I know several Carver owners and all like their boat. The only complaint from 2 is "underpowered". One is planning to repower soon and will add some HP. No complaints on the boat ~ layout is a Carver specialty. Well built hulls. You did very well!

Thanks, John. Layout IS a Carver specialty, no doubt about it. One of our lady boating friends who's been aboard numerous models and sizes is absolutely convinced that Carver's cabin design team is female. I've seen several myself and I don't doubt it. That's not a bad thing. The cabins are always good looking and laid out very, very well.

And where Carver styling can sometimes be a bit odd, this boat has good lines and proportions. It looks great in the water. Power? Yeah, a boat this size (like my Four Winns) would benefit from V-8's, but Carver only offered either a single 5.7 or twin 4.3's. I have it on good authority (former Carver sales rep) that the single engine boats were pretty tippy, and the twin engines much better in that respect. This one felt stable.

Congrats. I've been on lots of bigger Carvers and yes, always nice inside. I've got a friend with and older Santiago and love the layout although his engine access is very tight. Even my little one is set up nicely for the limited space down below.

Re: My Boat Shopping Odyssey

Yrs ago I went to visit a friend on Fire Island with my 20' SeaRay bowrider, he was staying with his friends on a Carver. I think it might have been a 26' as well. I wasn't really paying attention, but blown away by how nice, & well designed that Carver was! I thought to myself, if I ever go look for a nice cabin cruiser, Carver is #1 on my list now!

Good Luck, & Happy Boating to ya!
