Our beach club just celebrated its centennial. Hasn’t changed much since the 1950’s 🤪

Water pressure update . . .

We were out on the boat for the day. about 12 miles there and 12 miles back. On the way over the raw water psi was Port 22 psi, Stbd 15 psi (3600 RPM), engine temps were fine.

On the way back the Port was 22 psi, Stbd was 11 PSI. Engine RPM 3700 . . . The Stbd engine was running about 5 degrees higher than normal. I think I'll be unbuttoning the sea water strainer tomorrow.

This boat is certainly giving your problem-solving and troubleshooting skills plenty of exercise! It is good you’re a resourceful guy!

Yup, if it is not one thing it is another. I'd hate to think what it would cost (Time and Money) to have a shop take care of all the issues that come up. Not sure that I've actually had a trouble-free season with any boat . . .

I will say that this boat handles the ocean much better than my Formula 330. More weight and sharper 'V' hull.

Of course, the weather and sea conditions have been ideal for boating . . .

Here is the jetty that protects the harbor. It used to run all the way across to the right, meeting the land. One of the hurricanes about 40 years ago took the top layer of boulders off. I guess the authorities forgot to fix it . . .

It seems like once things are built, that's it.

I’m going to take before & after pic of our boat ramp when they replace it.
I’m hoping that with all the new material they make it with more of a slope to make launching easier.
We have a big sand bar that protects the inner harbor where all the boats are moored. With a 200 lb mooring & good ground tackle I’ve had my boat out there during tropical storms with no worries but if a hurricane comes then for sure I pull it.
I pulled it for Sandy even tho it was “only” a tropical storm the storm surge was over 10 feet. A old wooded boat washed up on the beach and was destroyed by the attempts to drag it off the beach!

I spent some time trying to fix the original (old) laptop that has my Diacom software. After several attempts, I got it to power up and boot up. 😀 👍 The problem is in the power connector inside the laptop. The L-i battery is also quite dead .

I got both parts on order, so hopefully this will be fixed soon, and I’ll have the laptop on the boat whenever it is needed .

I got the new power connector and battery for my 'Diacom' laptop . . . put those things in . . . but the power button does not seem to work. I used this several times last year and now nothing but problems.

So, maybe I got to order a new power button thingy, if possible.

Much more clouds than sun yesterday and even a rain shower. But we managed to get out in the boat for the afternoon. The 'kids' (not really kids any more) played some sandbar football. The cooling system is behaving itself for now.

Here is a close-up of our semi-delapitated jetty that protects the harbor. Waves tend to come over the 'broken' part at high tide.

An interesting story about the house all the way to the right in the picture . . . It was renovated about 15 years ago and during the process, the entire house was raised up in the air and a new first story was built underneath it. Then the original house was put back down on it. Must have cost a bazillion dollars to do something like that.

Common on waterfront properties with "grandfather clauses" or they need to meet current setbacks

I know of a waterfront cottage that was on a hill and only 50 feet from the water If they removed more than 50% of the original structure, they would have had to have been 300 feet from the water.

So they supported the original cottage in the air with 2 cranes, removed the hill and the original cottage became the 3rd story. I think it cost the owners about $2mill back in 2010 however they got 5500 SQ ft in the grandfathered location

I was attempting to get an old Dell i3 Inspiron (model 7359) working as my Diacom laptop, but that effort proved fruitless. So, I had another laptop in better condition and more powerful - Dell Inspiron 15R i5 8 GB . . .

Just needed to track a power adapter down for it and it came to life. I installed the Diacom 3.3 version and applied umpteen Windows updates. All set.

I need to configure the hardshell case for it and the Diacom cable, power cord, etc. Then I should be all set for the next compass warning or what ever the SmartCraft's fault Du Jour happens to be. :ROFLMAO:

About raising up water front houses after Sandy that became a big business here on Long Island especially on the South Shore many communities there are only 5-10 feet above sea level. You see it in the City of Long Beach & all over Fire Island.
