Just rebild water pump on motor. Now have a small knock comimg from motor it was rebilt last year. Was thinking maby bad gas or something ???

starts and runs great and now runs cool at 180 so i don't think its over heating

How hot did it get when it overheated? Is the noise a clicking or a knocking sound. Knocking of any kind is not good on any engine.

Welcome aboard!

Which water pump are you referring to? (Some people call the circulating pump the water pump).

If the noise started right after you worked on the pump, I would suspect something you did to the pump - or the mounting of the pump - or something similar. Try running it without the drive belt and see if the "knocK quits.

I think that is a 470, no belt on engine pump.

It's a 470 with a 4bbl QJet carb.

Not shure how hot it got but the top end is all new. This knock is very interment ( come and goes ) it all most sound like it coming from the drive shaft going to the out drive. Yes it is a 470 488 4b carb

Very well could be, pull the drive and run it and see if the knocking goes away. it won't hurt to run the engine for 15 to 20 seconds with no water.
