If you are still there, Sierra part # 18-5772 should match, or CDI part #113-4041.

I found out tonight that you do not want to buy a Sierra powerpack. The good news is that all the wires matched up with the ones on the unit I was removing. The bad news is that the cables are not not enough to reach the lower coil assemblies.

When the powerpack was completely disconnected I turned the ignition on and the constant alarm continued to sound. I turned it off and went back to the engine and disconnected the main power (huge red plug) and then plugged it back in. When I turned the ignition back on the buzzer beeped and went silent. I then reconnected the old powerpack back to the engine and reinstalled all alarm sensors with the exception of the starboard side t-stat alarm b/c the bullet connector needs replaced.

The alarm beeped when the key was turned and went silent. When I started the engine and had the choke arm up the alarm would do a rapid fire chirp every second or so until I brought the choke arm down to the neutral position at which time the alarm let out a very short beep and then went silent. Is this normal?? I will be attaching a video file of the alarm sounds momentarily.

Hopefully this attachment will work. If not, let me know, you will need quicktime to view the file. During the video you can hear the first beep it lets out before cranking, then the three rapid fire beeps that occur while the choke arm is up and just before the video ends you can hear the last chirp/beep that occurs when the choke arm is lowered into neutral, after this point the alarm no longer sounds. Is this normal?

thanks for the suggestion, tried that but the most important part does not work - the sound. I can still email the file to anyone interested. Thanks!

I would like that email. I'll be leaving for most of the day but will get back to this as soon as I return. Click my user name for the email address.

Good luck.

The steady on off beep is a "no oil" warning. Air in the line to the VRO pump could explain the fact that it goes quiet after a while, but, if so, it may also indicate an air leak which needs to be fixed now.

Explanation: If air leaks in the oil line, too much gas and not enough oil; if air leaks in the gas line, the reverse is true. Under either condition, the engine has no way to rid itself of unnecessary air so it goes to the combustion chamber with the resulting lean condition that will harm the engine.

BTW, if Teleflex/Sierra is making it right for you, then you might want to edit that earlier comment. They are trying pretty hard.

I will check for an airleak. It is just interesting to me how it only beeps while the choke is engauged. If i put the engine in neutral with no choke the alarm does not sound at all. If I start the engine with no choke there is no alarm. This is extremely confusing!

As for Sierra, I am extremely pleased with how the situation was handled. I work for West Marine so I have a direct contact into the technical support office that helps out with situations like this. The only issue that I have is that they should have put out a notice to West Marine to pull the defective product off of their shelves. West Marine has about 100 of these powerpacks in the warehouse and who knows how many out in stores. Who knows which ones are good and which are bad. That being said, they are handling my specific situation excellently.
