Hello all, I am looking into mounting a kicker on my 1989 Bayliner Capri - Either a 9.9 or 15.
I got this free kicker mount from a buddy and am trying to figure out how I could mount it.
The transom is not flat, which makes it a little difficult. I am guessing some sort of wedge or brace of some sort. Has anyone got some advice?

I"m guessing there isn't much/any structure behind that part of the transom.
This is an i/o boat, correct?

OK, but still likely a hollow spot there, never seen curved transom wood.

Gonna have to get in there and check, and probably add a big form fitted backing plate, then anchor with thru bolts.

Yeah, that makes sense. The backing plate goes on the inside right?
What about the outside where the mount interfaces with the transom? Would I need something there as well?

On my 98 Bayliner Capri it has a wooden spacer- It partially unbolted now while I do my transom and stringers. Mine is an i/o and there is plywood in the sides of the transom as well as the center. I don't know where to buy the mount but a custom woodworking shop could possibly measure the angle and cut you oneIMG_0083.JPGIMG_0084.JPG

Or if you good with a saw you could get the angle of the transom contour1622423021980.png with one of these

The curve in the transom is the least of your problems. You don't have enough freeboard for that mount. It's not suitable for your boat. The only possible kicker mount would be a fixed mount, not a retractable one.

Good to know, at least I didn’t pay anything for this mount.
