Re: motorguide noise

Pull the prop off and see if there is anything behind the prop, IE: fishing line. Also, run it with the prop off to see if it makes noise with the prop gone. A dinged up and out of balance prop can cause the TM to make odd noises.

The bearing/bushings can be replaced, but you have to pull the motor apart. You'll want to replace all the seals if you disturb them so it's water tight after the repair. There are several places online that have TM schematics and parts. Probably a $30-40 repair if you are handy.

FYI, the magnet housing is clocked and must be installed the same way it was removed, mark the housings before taking the motor apart.

thanks yea I pulled the prop off nothing behind it and props in ok condition I will try to run it without the prop.

Where would be the best place to find schematics? google

one more question there are 5 forward speeds on the TM but if I twist it a little further it will go even faster why does it do that?

Re: motorguide noise

yeah google motor guide parts, there are a few places the service and sell parts for MG.

On the 5 speeds + a bit more,,, you got me on that one.

Maybe you have a custom built trolling motor made for the band Spinal Tap, you know, how their amps went to "11" :D

Yeah its freaky bc speed 5 is a pretty decent speed but when I go a little farther it scoots drains the battery like a mofo tho

www.crowleymarine.com will have the schematics and parts -- I put a new brush set in a MG, it's not that hard. Don't remember anything special about bearings though.

Don't forget the seal kit.
