I am replacing my old Motorguide with a new one. I had a bow plug for the old one which was wired to the battery with a fuse. The new motor comes with a red & black wire out of the foot control to be wired to a circuit breaker & then to the battery. This is a 12 volt motor 46 lb thrust. Do I reeally need a circuit breaker & can I just cut the old male plug end off the old & hook up to the new.

A circuit breaker is a better solution than a fuse although some will argue that the fuse is safer since it can't reset automatically. You can do it either way. A fuse and circuit breaker perform the same function. Yes, you can cut the plug off the old motor and install it on the new one.
