I have a Johnson 90hp 4 stroke (2003) outboard. It won't turn over. I turn the key and the lights in the dash cycle then turn the key to the next position and all you here is the fuel pump. I have tried moving the throttle up and down while turning the key, but nothing. Any help would be helpful.

i dont know anything about your motor but what i do know is that the guys that do know are going to have to know a little bit more info.

is this motor new to you...or have you just started having this problem...if so when did this problem accure.

if it not new to you then i know a few things you need to check is compression and spark..but i dont know what psi it needs to be at.

alot of this info can be found in a manual...if you dont have one, i would get one.

Re: Motor won't start?

I got this motor new. I had the boat out over the weekend fishing and pulling a tube. It gave me a heat warning while tubing so I shut it off for about an hour. After it started right up. The next afternoon, nothing. The battery is new and the cable connections are new. I just replaced them about three weeks ago.
