I bought a boat with a mercury 165.....65 horse power motor on it. The guy showed me it ran. I took it to the water and it ran for 1/2 mile and sputtered stop. It ran sluggish to begin with and now wont stay started. the serial number on the motor is 3812034. where can I go to get manual?? where do I find what year it is??? the choke is wide open all the time the controls seem to be missing on the front of the carb. It drips gas it drips oil...seems to drip lots of oil. what can I do to get motor running and stay running. also the system does not spit out water like I know it should. it definately sucks water. when I unhook a tube high on the engine it spits water. love it if I could get help.
