I have a 1965 60 horse even rude sport four that I can not get to start. I'm new at working on boat motors so I don't have much experience. I am getting spark so I assume I'm not getting gas. Any help can do I'm at a loss.

Re: Motor troubles

What have you done so far troubleshooting wise?

I would start the process by squirting some fuel mix directly into both cylinders, re-installing the plugs & see if it will fire.

If it does go to the FAQ and read the thread on waking sleeping outboards for a start. A history of the motor would help.

yeah i have tried doing that, but still no go. My grandpa had it going 2 years ago. We cleaned the carbs on it this year. We shot some mix into it and it would fire for a second or two then die.

I am sure that solittle will agree. Got to start at the beginning. Compression test on all cylinders. Spark test on all cylinders. If those are ok remove and strip the carbs and soak in Gunk carb and parts cleaner in the gallon can. Follow the instructions on the can. Rebuild the carbs with new kits.
