Motor Trim wont't go down (stuck in up position)!!

the pump works i can hear it make the sound when press down on the shifter but the motor just won't trim down..i have filled all the oil's and i think i put the power trim oil in the right place (yellow top)<br /><br />MERCRUSIER engine in/outboard<br /><br />i have pushed down on the engine..what else? before mechnaic charges me $100's to fix this..

Dittos, Hooty!<br />It could be overfilled,the lock tab may have engaged itself (on the hinge plate,look for a tab that has clipped-into a catch).<br />Wiggle the shift lever while activating the trim-down/up, and see if it frees-up.<br />But do get the manual.

Had that problem once on a Merc i/o. Changed the pump to no avail. Said the hell with it and got two new lift cylinders and hoses and it worked better than it ever had. By the way, got parts from Napa and saved about 40% over merc prices. Happy hunting.
