Hello, I have a 1973 searay with a 1973 Johnson 115hp 115ESL73M. Motor is shot and I am looking to replace it. I've found a 2000 Johnson 100hp Commercial J100WPLSIF. Just wondering if anyone knows if the shaft size is the same on these two..can't seem to find alot of info on that on google. Anyone think I'd have any problems doing this swap since it is quite an upgrade?
Thanks
James

Re: Motor swap question

When looking at other motors i see alot of them say either short shaft or long shaft. Just want to know if these two models have any major differences pretty much.
Thanks

Re: Motor swap question

The motor you're looking at is a 60* V4 looper. One giant leap forward from your 73 115. The model number indicates it's a long shaft (20") motor - same as your 73. They did not offer either motor in a short (15") version.

Re: Motor swap question

What do you need to know? It's a basic 60 degree V4 looper. One of - if not the best - design OMC came up with. Quick reving, great power, lots more torque than your 73 motor.
