What's the difference between a motor support (OB) and a Transom Saver ? It looks to me that they do the same thing.

I will be trailering a 16' Alum welded with a 35hp OB. (Don't have OB yet) :(

Should I be concerned with either one of these ? :)

all I can think of would be the motor support being part of the mount itself, where you can lift the motor while on the water and flip the lever to support the motor. The transom saver actually take the weight off the transom and directs it to the trailer.

I have seen the same device called a motor support and transom saver.

I wouldn't trailer an outboard without a transom saver. . .by any name.

Good advice so far. You need to measure the skeg when you get your boat done and powered. If the skeg is less than a foot from the pavement with the motor secured down, you need to consider a transom saver. Raises the motor/skeg securely above the pavement and keeps the motor tied/linked to the boat-trailer, so it all moves as one when you travel. That's the theory anyway...your mileage may vary, depending on semi's, tractors, road conditions and other hazards.
