More tilt & trim problems

Hi, we just replaced the entire tilt and trim system (Except for the pump) on our 1977 85HP johnson outboard. We bought cylinders (all setup, just needed to install them), a new tilt and trim motor, and basically it's all new stuff. Here is the problem, it tilts down beautifully, very fast and very powerful. However, it tilts up extremely slowly..And then to make matters even more problematic, when we put it on plain, the motor will drop down after about 1 minute or so. Then we have to tilt it back up, and then it will do it again, and again, and again...What is causing this issue since everything is pretty much new?
