More help with 1969 100hp Johnson-- Running now

OK got the engine running, it was the Control box. Took it out for the first time today and it ran ok....I think the carbs need to be rebuilt. But neverless it started right up and didnt leave me using the orrs. My only real concern now is that when you put it in reverse, the engine comes up out of the water half way. What could cause this?

I ordered a manual. Its on the way.

Also how hard it it take off and rebuild the carbs on this engine?
