Nope no cane, but I did take the tennis ball off one leg of my walker and throw it at the wall.

Re: More boat launch sillyness.

Yesterday I waiting on some folks who were having jetski trouble. Apparently a dead battery once it was in the water and the truck had pulled away. So instead of putting it back up on the trailer, they drove the truck forward down the ramp and turned so that the truck and trailer were at the water level, completely horizontal to the ramp, so that they could get some jumper cables and jump the jetski with the truck. Needless to say, a truck and trailer take up A LOT of ramps (4 lane ramp, they were occupying all 4). Someone approached them and asked to either help or have them move, and got the response "No Ingles" so everyone waited while they continued trouble shooting.

That kind of thing really brings out character in people. I realized I wasn't going to be able to do anything, so I shut my truck off, went back to the boat, hopped up on the swim platform with a beer and turned the radio on. Hey its a beautiful sunday, you're not working, you're outside at the lake, you might as well enjoy what you get. Of the 10 other boats waiting in line, 2 or 3 joined me and we had a great time joking and conversing and making friends. 4 or 5 were noticeably mad, yelling, upset, and ended up leaving. Big deal! Enjoy life!

My guess is they spoke perfect english.

Yeah. If you have to turn your head to back a trailer, you shouldn't be backing trailers.

I call BS on that one Sir. You should use whatever method provides you the most visibility of the load you are backing. And yes I can back with the mirrors and put the load where ever I need / want to. Why would you do it the hard way that limits you field of vision, just cause it's harder?

You beat me to it,Wind dog! But I'll add,a small kid,or even a lot of adults, don't know enough to stay where they can be seen in your mirrors. Watch where you're backing, and use the mirrors as an AID.

the old people can be problems on ramps and anywhere else for a number of reasons, but one of the main ones is that they have little patience. With that, they act like they shouldn't have to deal with crowds so they get pushy. They are used to things not being as crowded and they feel imposed upon. With that attitiude it goes downhill.

It's a funny thing: I'm much more patient and disciplined now than I was when I was a younger man. Used to be quick with a middle finger in traffic; now I seldom drive aggressively and never apply the finger to others, except perhaps certain politicians or talking heads on the TV.

i keep trying to post etiquette rules at my launch but no one is letting me do it and the thing that drives me nuts is the kids swimming at the ramp where there are clearly visible signs that say no fishing or swimming the worst is the parents that take their kids to the ramp to go swimming

Call law enforcement. Some thing I do in that situation is ask for the proper spelling of the officers name in case you need to contact the news paper if their is a accident and no one came to investigate the complaint, that seams to work ever time.

I presume you only do this if you know that the officer wasn't busy doing something like working on a rape case, etc?

first of all officers typically don't do the investigating, they are on scene when the crime takes place and take pics and document the information that is available etc , from there it goes to an Investigator that reviews the information and takes the proper measures. so yes call them ALL the time because law enforcement officers are there to enforce the LAWS
