I google stuff like that too , huge big old engines. Did you see the vid where some guy steps into the crankcase ( they had one of them blow off covers removed ) jumps/stands on the big end as it goes down past him , does a rev and steps back off ? Pretty sure it was one of the Wartsila motors .
The size of the thing is fantastic .... but then think about the machine used to make such a crankshaft . I dunno if they are one piece or built up . Apparently they are very fuel efficient .

What impresses me is that not only did they have the knowledge required to come up with something like this ( try getting one built today ) but they could actually make it . Some of them castings are immense let alone the ability to machine them. 150 odd years ago , quite an achievement for way back then ...... stuff was still measured in feet and inches back then :LOL:
