Mongomery Wards (Clinton?) 3hp, need year?

I just recently acquired an old Montgomery Wards, apply rope to start, 3 hp out board. The model # is 84GG9007A and the serial # is 186445 or S, can't quite make it out. Could you tell me what year this motor is? "This little motor runs real nice and starts quite easy".....Thanx...~~~AL Hartwell

That little beauty is a 1948 model.

Also it's a OMC Gale division built engine rather than a Clinton. So it's near identical to the late '40s Johnson/Evinrude 3.3hp engines.<br /><br />Oh, and welcome to Iboats!
