Maybe I'm missing something but what's the difference between Miloman offering to sell his 50hp Evinrude or parts of it and Trevor offering to sell a new prop or me offering to sell a carburetor bowl?<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Hi, Guys.<br /><br />iboats has a classified section for selling stuff, so using the Forum as a sales tool is really not fair. <br /><br />Miloman shouldn't be using his posts as ads, either, but Trevor was making a habit of bashing products that he doesn't sell for a living in addition to offering new items for sale in competition with our benefactor and "landlord".<br /><br />I hope Trevor continues to be an active member, of course, but one doesn't go into his competitor's store, knock the products and try to sell his own there.<br /><br />Deciding where to draw the line is not easy. You want to be fair. I think Mod 1 was fair.

The difference is that Trevor obviously has ties with with a dealer or some other such organization. In addition, the tone of the remarks regarding other brands was out of line. All of The posts may not have been seen by all because many were removed.<br /><br />The board also has some unwritten rules about personal solicitations. They have been discouraged in the past. <br /><br />There will probably be a remedy to that soon.<br /><br />Trevor, Your apology is heartily accepted. We are all passionate about certain things. We just need to try and keep it on an even keel.

The only way I see to be fair and diplomatic to everyone that sells or offers to sell through these forums on more than just an ocassional basis is to mention all or none of these members.Without dropping names members that frequent this site are aware.
