Mixture

I have a two stroke 1976 Johnson 70 hp and I am having a hard time finding that right mixture. I was using 50 to 1 and ading the stabil but when i check the spark plugs the have oil junked on them and lots of blue smoke. My engine just dies. An suggestions, please thank you

50:1 is the correct fuel/oil ratio.
Have you checked the compression yet?
Does the engine have a thermostat in it, is it working properly?
What plugs are you running, are they gapped properly?
