1979 Johnson 150 V6 has three carbs stacked.
The 2 on the bottom have the choke flaps that can be engaged(closed)at the key switch via solenoid or manually. The top one doesn't have one?? There is a roller pin across the front of the intakes where the two flaps are attached with tiny screws, that rotates to open and close them. There is a roller pin in the top carb, but no flap, or holes for evidence there ever was one. I bought the Clymer book yesterday, but can't find any verification if this is a design function. Anyone know??

Re: Missing Choke flap

I don't think it matters much. Two of three
carbs choking is plenty, and would leave one carb free of fuel-loading in case the chokes on the lower two stick shut from vac- key- yume (gotta spell it like that or the censor-stars eat the word).
I can't say for sure, but my niegbor's engine is just like yours, with the TOP carb no choke. His is a Merc115 tallboy tho.

------------------
the Early bird get's the worm...So, he don't have to stop for bait.

Thanks 12footer, that makes sense. If I keep hanging around here and tinkering with the motor, pretty soon I won't have to ask so many stupid questions, but I am not there yet!!
