I am eyeing on these two... for family use.
Legend is 2019 model, and Mirrocraft is also 2019.

Legend comes with a 40HP merc, I think towing weight is around 1400lbs, boat weight is around 1100lbs. No ladder. Length is 15ft

Mirrocraft comes with a 50HP engine, towing weight is around 1100lbs, and boat weight is 640lbs. Has ladder. Length is 16ft, with bench seat with back.

For my use, I really like Mirrocraft because it is larger, 10HP more power, with ladder and lighter so it will be faster.

But legend seems to be a better brand, and construction is better I assume.

If you own one of these would you please give me any suggestions?

Majory is family use, fishing is less important.

thanks!

This was taken from their website today: After more than 15 years in the market, production of new Legend boats has been halted as White River Marine Group focuses its resources on a consolidated group of high-demand performance fishing boat brands. White River Marine Group stands behind Legend boats in operation with warranty, parts and service support. You may reach support for Legend boats by calling (417) 873-4555. White River Marine Group makes Ranger, Triton and Nitro boats but apparently has suspended the Legend. When a manufacturer stops production on something, long range support becomes questionable.

On the other hand, MirroCraft has been around for many decades. I bought a ProStriker in about 1995 and although I no longer own it, it is still in service. Good boats.

Thanks! Not sure why Legend all sports is so heavy without engine. Almost 400 more lbs compare to Mirrocraft, and powered by only 40HP engine.

You're comparing apples and oranges...

The Legend boat is a complete package at 1420 (probably wrong and actually lower than actual weight). So subtract off the trailer which is probably in the 5-700lb range and that will get you an estimated package weight of around 700-900lbs - boat & motor.

Mirrorcraft lists the approximate weight at 640lbs. That's the boat only...no motor, no trailer. I don't see a towed weight listed on their website so I'm not sure where you're coming up with that number. Figure 5-700lbs for a trailer and that brings you to 1100-1300lbs without motor. The weight on a 4 stroke 50HP Merc is 247 per specs so that would take your package to 1300-1500lbs approximately.

Or to put it another way,,,,640lbs + 247 (for the 4 stroke Merc) puts you at 887lbs roughly for the Mirrorcraft package. How does that now compare to the Legend package at roughly 700-900lbs? Look pretty darn similar to me.

Depending on your tow vehicle, either option may need brakes to allow you to tow that kind of weight. Definitely weigh either option to know where you are at with actual towed weight as those published weights are Dry - no batts, no gas, no safety gear, nada, zero, zippo. That all adds to your towed package weight.

Thanks! I forgot about trailer weight :) so I guess the weight is relatively same.
My other two concern with Legend 15 All sports are, 1. Only 40HP engine, 2. No ladder.

So for this weight, what is a max speed I can get with 40HP Merc CT? Assuming 2 adults, and full tank of gas.

Also, how hard or how easy to install a ladder?

I found someone is selling a 2017 legend, but mirrocraft is really hard to find, unless I buy new.

thanks

Total WAG...maybe in the 30's? Light boat but light on HP. Going to depend alot on how much stuff you bring along for a day.

As for a ladder....get one that hangs over the side. Store it when not in use. Easy, peasy. My uncle does that on his Sylvan.

I hope its a small family, and thy are all small.
Both of those boats will get crowded real fast.

The Mirrocraft will out live the owner (you).

If the ladder is set up for emergency boarding, it is a plus.

A portable hang over the edge ladder is pretty much useless when you are in the water, and you can't reach the ladder thats laying on the floor.

and trying to climb up the motor is not an old-guy task.
