I have a newer (3 years old) Minn Kota Edge 70 that is having a somewhat severe problem. Basically when the switch is in the momentary or continuous section the motor continuously runs, pressing the foot switch does not activate or deactivate the motor. The speed selector works fine.

I think it may simply be the foot switch itself is stuck in the on position but did not know if there was sometype of circuit board or something that could also cause the same problem?

Anyone else ever have this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Ken

In the continuous mode the motor is supposed to run continuously. You don't need to have your foot on the switch. In the momentary setting the motor should run only when you step on the switch. I've had sand from my shoe jam the switch on another troller but you should be able to work the switch with your hand to see if it is releasing.

Imagine that the motor is in the continuous run position...even though it is actually in the momentary position...it's always on regardless of the switch position and regardless of if you are pushing the foot switch.

It's real bummer to have reach down and flip to the off position when fishing...especially when you have a fish on.

I'm gonna pull it apart tonight to see if I can figure it out...or hopefully knock some sand out of the switch or something.
