FWIIW, 4200 claims to be paintable. A week after it's application I oversprayed it with Interlux Brightsides. Two weeks later the paint on that area is just a wet as it was shortly after shooting it. If you touch it, white comes off on your finger.

What do you suppose gives?

You didn't wait long enough matey. Leave it till it's fully cured and the paint is dry, then you can touch it up. It will collect dust. Why are you using 4200? All the time and care that you are putting into this boat of yours at leas use 5200, or sika. Chief ;)

Cause I had it Chief. You don't know how many times I spent $10, 20, 30, 40 bucks to get just the right stuff and only used 10-50% of it. Ya just gotta draw the line somewhere.

And what's wrong with using 4200. 5200 is great if you don't need to remove the part its holding later. Boomyal, probably what Chief said, you didn't let the 4200 fully cure if what you used was the standard cure and not the fast cure. Takes 8 to 14 days for the standard stuff to fully cure. Also, since both 4200 and 5200 are air cure products then not sure if the paint will ever let it cure.

Don't feel like your alone.
I just epoxy coated some wood & then painted it.
Even though I sanded & cleaned it off I apparently didn't wait long enough because the paint stayed soft or orange peeled.
In a rush as usual & didn't let the epoxy cure, even though it was hard & sandable.

Like taking a knife to a gunfight, you might be just fine, but I don't like 4200 below the waterline. Chief ;)

I'd be very interested Chief if you have any specific examples where 4200 didn't perform as well as 5200 in sealing and medium holding situations. Thanks. Always interested in learning something new.
