If a motor will work for a few min well and then stop.. is it a switch or the actual motor? I am also lokin for a manual for this older motor... any ideas from you fine folks???

Is your circuit breaker tripping? Some of the better ones are self resetting. It should be at least 30 amp for that motor.

Could be "o" ring seal failure allowing moisture and or water into the unit promoting corrosiveness to wiring and or conductors.
