I have a mid 90's wellcraft with a Cobra SX outdrive attached. I also have a fully dressed 2001 Mercruiser 4.3L engine.
The boat has no motor in it but it looks like when they took the blown motor out they pretty much just unbolted all accessories ( power steering, alternator etc) even left the bell housing attached to the inner gimble. The motor that came out of the boat was also a 4.3L. Is it possible to drop in the merc engine? I assume that I will have to use the OMC/Volvo shift cables and brackets which are still there. Will the coupler be the same or is the OEM specific? Is there anything else I may need to purchase to make this work?
