Re: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays???

There's another kraut/nordic type chiming in ;) ! Yeah, what we do and what may/may not have been happening in ancient, Roman-controlled Palestine couldn't be more different, or less relevant to one another. That's always perplexed me. You see tons of Europeans, et al. worshiping an ancient Israeli, but you never see it the other way around. I wonder why? Are our own traditions not good enough?

Happy Solstice!

… or we just can't go that far. KFA makes a buncha' good points, but there are some inaccuracies (or perhaps in-completes) there.

You're not going to find lutefisk in the Bible either.........
Thank goodness. If God commanded me to eat that stuff I'd really struggle.

On a final thought,, Merry Christmas has always been and I don't wont to go deep into bible.I could, but when your kids wake up on Christmas morning its already said. No need to change things or be worried what others think, if you say merry Christmas and others don't follow or recognize it than oh well!! Who put the first tree trimming on or where it came from isn't important anymore. And santa clause and lights of the house we just followed in our farthers footsteps, great memories and things to make the holiday real to me.Somewhere a long time ago these things happened for a reason and I don't want to let them slip away.

I prefer Merry Christmas to "Have a Happy National Politically Correct Winter Solstice Holiday" Its how I was raised. My mothers family is originally from Eastern Europe, and it has always been Merry Christmas. If someone offers a Happy Chanukah, or a Happy Kwanzaa, I say thank you, and Merry Christmas.

When have we become so entrenched with not wanting to offend anybody that we now dance around such deep rooted family traditions? If simply wishing anybody a Merry Christmas is so offensive to them, then they have a much more serious problem then being offended! How can anybody be offended by someone wishing them to have a great eventful day? If somebody wished me a Happy Hanukkah, I would simply tell them thank you! Some have become too thin skinned these days...

To me and mine, it is Merry Christmas. The one thing that i have always remembered is a saying I was taught many years ago, Christ, The reason for the season.

It does not offend me as long as anyone does not tell me I cannot say my thoughts.
