Mercury Classic 50

I bought this boat without trim. I purchased a single solenoid 2 cylinder system and bolted it up. It works fine, but... I don't want to drill a hole in my dash and install the old school three button up/trailer/down switch when I have the trim up down on my throttle handle (newer version). There are four wires coming out of my throttle control a blue/ green/ light green (I think faded) and a brown. Blue is up, green is down, I know that. The other two???

Now, the old school button has the trailer mode when you push the center and up buttons and the trim system I installed has the limit switch on the right cylinder. How do I incorporate that into the newer button on my throttle button?

The pump has the three terminal input, blue and green and red. But the red wire is huge (10 or 12 gauge). I can't hook that red wire up to the little wires on the newer version switch. It will burn down for sure. I think I need a relay!!! But how do I incorporate the limit switch into this conversion?

Any help would be great.

Usually the single solenoid systems have a pretty heavy wire for the non-solenoid direction (down). Your toggle switch may not be able to handle it. There will be no way around it but to install another solenoid.

The old three button systems use a trim limit switch. Push both top and middle button and the the trim limit switch was bypassed. You will need to have a seperate trailer button on the trim control, if you want to use the trim limit switch.

Those solenoids only need about 4A to operate, and your toggle switch is designed to handle that. The red wire on the pump is thick to supply lots of current to the PTT motor.

Hmm, I wonder how that would look like on paper? So I am basically setting up my unit like a two solenoid system, but can I use two square relays to activate the blue and green wires from the thumb control and the going into the PTT? That is what I picture doing.... Am I on the right track???? Or add another solenoid like the generation after the system I installed. If I can find a wiring diagram.....

Get on the Maxrules site and see if you can find a two solenoid PTT diaghram. That is how you want to wire it. I would skip the trim limit switch.
