I have a 2004 Tracker PT 175 with a 25 hp merc on it. I am changing out the motor for a yamaha. I can not get the remote throttle box out. I have taken all the electric hook ups off, and have unscrewed almost every screw on the box. I just can not get the actual throttle arm off... Any help would be great.

What box is it, is it the Mercontrol or the Commander?

Not sure which box you are talking about, sorry. It is the box that is connected to the forward and reverse throttle. Also the kill switch is in this box.

It is neither, thanks. I will take a closer look tomorrow and update my post, sorry for the lack of info... Rookie mistake.

Does it have a push button choke, or a push key choke?

Re: Mercury remote control box

The reason the warm up lever moves when you throttle up is that the lever has lost it's contact with the tension device, items 13/14/15 and 16. If you lift up the lever you will see a little dimple and looking at the back side of the box, you will see a hole that matches up with the dimple. When the lever is in the stowed position, pin 13 acting on the pressure from springs 14/15 moves into the dimple on the lever and holds it in position, preventing it from moving.

Item 16 is a welch plug which holds the springs and pin in position. Many times, I find these items missing and I just make my own using shoulder pins cut to size and the pin portion rounded off.
