mercury pre load gear box

hi can any one help ? i have a 1994 mercury 150 v6 outboard. gearbox was damaged and i bought another v6 gear box. when it was delivered it had a pre load pin on the top of the drive shaft which my original gear box did not have.
can anyone tell me will this gear box fit ?

There should be no problem, the preload pin style just has different bearings in it that require a preload on them (tapered bearing).

Also check the gear ratio as a 2.0L 150 is 2:1 and the 175 & 200 are 1:87. Just put it in gear and mark a spot on propshaft. Turn driveshaft and count how many revolutions it takes to make a complete turn of propshaft. Also ishift unit into reverse and see if you can rotate prop, if it is locked into reverse and does not rachet it a old cam/pin shift unit and you do not want it.
