I blew up my 1990 Mercury 115hp:facepalm:. I was going to rebuild myself BUT the cylinder sleaves walked out of the top 2 cylinders not making a rebuild economical. I found a 1995 that has good compression but the lower unit is bad. Will this powerhead interchange with my 1990? The serial # on the 95 is 0G226955 and the 90 is 0C246477. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Yes it will interchange but use it as a assembly as yours is the small bore and the 95 is the big bore. You can use your e,lectrical but use the 1995 carbs.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. I was wondering why the cc displacement was listed as different and why they were listed as different part numers on the sites to order a rebuilt powerhead. Thanks again

Re: Mercury powerheads interchangeable

I stumbled on this post while I was searching for a part. It is crazy how familiar it sounds....

This is my story... I have a blown 1990 90hp mercury #0C260056. I was looking for a new motor and found a 1995, 115hp mercury with serial #0G226955. The 115 hp has the same number as mine. is this possible?
