Mercury Outboard Lower Unit identifaction

I have some Mercury lower unit gear cases (prop shaft) that are NOS or very slightly used. I have been searching the net and found that most of these units have parts ID #'s in the 16XX XXXX ranges. Is there anywhere or in a DB where I can find out what Engine and year these are? I have one thats 1614 1209 and another thats 1627 4404. I'll have to inventory the others for #'s.

you know this will sound funny, but on a few things i have called mercury corp and just politely asked, they were rather helpful.
lol as was tracker when i wanted to know what my 20ft pontoon boat weight was stock.
