I am searching for one of the above engines in the two stroke 7.5 to 9.9 hp range to put on my Grumman Sportboat. Are there any considerations that indicate good or bad choices for my consideration (bad years to avoid, etc). I presently have a 6 hp Johnson that won't put me on plane with two adults + gear (can only manage 8 mph at our elevation of 4500 ft). I believe that the 9.9 would answer my needs, but is the 7.5 enough of an increase? Thanks for your input.
