Mercury 90 from 1996.

Hello to all.<br /><br />I have been offered a Mercury 90 HP from the year 1996, I have been told by the seller that the engine has not been started and it is supposed to be in mint condition, never installed in a boat.<br /><br />Well the question is If I could have any kind of problem with this engine, like problems with the gaskets or the seals i.e.<br /><br />The price they have asked me is around 4.000 $<br /><br />Thank you very much in advance

You can have problems with new engines let alone 8 year old ones. If they are so sure of its condition ask for some kinda warranty, or get them to install it for a few dollars and pay them on succesfull demonstration. If the engine is straight they surely wont mind going the extra mile..

Thank you for your response. Probably I will not go after this engine, because I´m not sure about what do they offer for the price.<br /><br />Thanks
