I have a 200? Mercury 8hp 2 stroke, I need to know if there are charts or manuals that talk about altitude main jet settings. I use the boat between 1000' to 9000' lakes. The engine runs quit differently between altitudes. The main jet is replaceable. Any suggestions?

The Merc charts call for 90-13449--1 as the service manual for your engine for s/ns (U) 0A197112 thru 0D280999. This manual is not available online.

However, 90-827242R02 / February 2003 6/8/8 Sailmate/9.9/9.9 Sailpower/XR10/Magnum 10/10 Marathon/ 10 Sea Pro/15 (U) 0A197112 and Above
(B) 09503295 and Above is the next manual and it says it is applicable to your s/n as well but the book itself does not agree with that.

So, here is a copy of the 90-827242R02:

http://1manual.com/Mercury manuals/Service Manual PDFs/TwoStroke/827242r1/cover.pdf

See Section 3A Fuel Delivery System and you will see the various carbs and their jet sizes for altitude as well as a chart for jet size cross reference to P/Ns.

Here is the parts listing for your engine which is a model:

1008201MD MERCURY 1992 8

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/496.cfm

You can determine which carb you have on your engine and see what jet sizes you require for the higher altitudes.

WOW!! Gerry, Thank you very much. This is the exact information that I need. I have to order a float anyway because the one I have filled up with gas. Still not as easy as working on helicopters.
Thanks again for your great help.
