I have a 73 Mercury 850 thunderbolt, and need to remove the throttle and shift cables. Does anyone have a good pic/detailed description how to remove them?
There is a latch mechanism that holds those barrels in place.----Stand beside the motor.----Pull the top towards yourself.---It now unlocks.----Easy and no tools required there.
It has been a long time since I did that. Don't you need to push the "ears" that stick out on the top of the latch, in, just a bit, and then up and around to the outside to unlock it?
