My Mercury motor number is 54935 can anybody tell me what year this is?

I have a problem with my motor - motor runs okay but when throttle is pushed down hard motor dies out. Fuel is getting to the carburettors , fuel pump has been overhauled, carburettors have been overhauled and checked for debris. Can anybody provide any suggestions to help.

Looks to be 1979. A dieing motor when trying to accelerate is usually dirty carbs or incorrect idle mixture. Since the carbs are clean, I would richen the top carb 1/8 turn (CCW) and see if it is better. Repeat with bottom carb, and repeat sequence, testing after each adjustment.
