Mercury outboard not firing

I have a 1998 sun tracker bass buggy with a mercury 60hp two stroke. It’s been running fine, but when we took it out yesterday, we had a problem. I shut it off to swim with the kids for a bit, then it wouldn’t start back up. It turns over fine, kill switch is in the run position, it’s getting fuel, but it acts like it’s not firing. Any tips would be appreciated.

Check your plugs. Two stroke motors have been known to foul plugs from time to time.

I had the same issue last month and it turned out to just be a ground wire.
It looked fine but I pulled/cleaned/greased it and the motor fired right back up.
Worth looking at anyways,

It was a ground on the motor right above the power pack on the starboard side of the motor if I remember correctly.
I can try and send a pic later if needed.

I believe it was the stator grounding wire. Looking at my manual it says there were 2 different stators used on these motors. One had the grounding wire other just grounded stator to block through the stator mounting plate.
You might not have the grounding wire is what im trying to say.

Switchbox

Working on a Mercury 60 hp 2 stroke. It ran fine, shut it off to let the kids swim, wouldn't start back. Got towed in, went out two days later and it starts right up and runs fine. Someone said it could be the switchbox, any tips would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Hi there Todd good afternoon I hope you’re enjoying your day. My name is Henry and I have a 60 hp mercury tracker outboard motor that has no spark. I read your post about a bad ground. Is it possible for you to send me a picture of the Bad ground wire you greased, cleaned. Thank you so much. I appreciate your help. Enjoy your afternoon Henry.

MODERATOR EDIT: Henry, we are disappointed that you have posted to 2 old threads on your first day on iBoats. Such posting is a no-no per the forum rules. Please feel free to start a new thread about your issue.
