Can you take a stator off a Merc 75HP 2 stroke (which has a different type of switchbox design) and fit it straight onto a 60HP with its original switchbox?
I guess the question is, should stators and their corresponding design switch boxes be used together, rather than mixing types?
This is the Stator my motor should have:

But someone has fitted a Red Stator off a 75HP Merc - and its running rough / really low on power. I have set the timing (now 3 deg / 22 deg), fitted new coils, ultrasonic carb clean, new plugs, new fuel lines etc. She's getting plenty of fuel, Its just not right, timing related - she's flat and only pulling 2,600 RPM.
Hoping someone understands the compatibility between mixed stators / flywheel / switchboxes? - should they all be from the same motor?
