mercury 50hp please help!

I have a 2001 mercury 50hp 4 stroke. It just started missing going across the lake. It will idle just fine in gear or out of gear. It will rev up just fine in nuetral. All the cylinders are getting spark. I took it in to a mercury shop and they rebuilt all four carbs to no avail. Fuel was tested, filter and fuel pump are fine. Any Ideas?

I just got a 2002 60hp which was purchased from a certified Merc mechanic. I don't know alot about it yet, but he did say something that stuck in my mind. He said that he put on a newer style fuel pump because the older original ones had a tendency to stick at half to three quarter throttle resulting in the engine sputtering. Sound like your problem.

I had picked up my boat from the dealer saturday. They had said it still was missing after the carb rebuilds. I took it to another nercury dealer where they were thinking it maybe a stater or shift position switch. They lake tested it with me and we never got it to miss. It was a constant miss I had. They told me to take it home and run it like crazy. I've put 20+ miles on the motor today and no miss. I would normally be fine with that but I have a remote canada trip in 2 weeks to go to. Any ideas?
