Hello Everyone. I have a 2008 Four winns 258V that i cant get the motor to turn over after coming out of storage this winter. I get a single "click" from the solenoid but nothing further. I tried all 3 battery positions on the switch, i even disconnected all the batteries and boosted direct to my truck right to the power leads on the battery that is labeled ( starting battery). All of the guages function fine, i have good voltage. But the interesting thing is my garmin guage cluster that i have connected to the engine via smartcraft connect is saying "no communication" on the guage. Normally with the key in the accessory position it will still read the engine data. I also notice the indicator/status lights arent iluminated on the smartcraft connect module which leads me to think there is no power to the ECU? The boat and starter motor performed perfectly fine before bringing it out of storage. i put 100 hours on it and winterized it with no anomalies in the fall last year. It is in heated storage all winter which is why im not understanding whats going on. It seems no matter how much power or where i put the power too it will not engage the starter. the boat had a new starter motor installed 2 seasons ago. im not sure why it was changed as it was the previous owner but when i looked down at the starter i can verify it is newer. The only thing i can think of is that when it came out of storage i noticed i left the batteries on and the ship systems breaker on ALL winter. all 2 batteries were stone cold dead so perhaps that fried something?
when i get back at it i will start with cleaning up all of the connections i can find and charging/testing all 3 batteries but i have been reading the starter motor is tough to change on these engines. Im not even sure how i can get my body down there in that position. so i would like to check absolutely everything else that i can before going that route.
any other suggestions? im all for replacing parts but i also like to understand the "why" part of these situations.
Thanks!
