Mercury 35 hp serial# problem

I've tried to look this serial# up, but cant seem to match it to find out what year it is! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you 3454576

That seial belongs on a 1972 40 HP if it has CD ign then its a 40 if not then someone has probably switched the swival bracket

I think your right about the swivel bracket. I was thinking the same thing. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt something I was missing. Is there another way to find out what year it is, without taking it to a mechanic?
