Hello, I have a"new to me" 2009 bayliner with an inboard Mercury 3.0L engine. I was out on the lake running fine. Stopped to switch out a knee boarder and could not get engine started again. Tank is 3/4 full, battery is good. Engine turns over, just not starting..., so I assume it is a fuel/ignition problem. I don't think it is getting fuel to the carborator. How do I check this and other parts of the fuel system. How do I check if the fuel pump is working. Could the fuel tank sender unit be a problem. Scratching my head and looking for help.

Re: Mercury 3.0 won't start

check 4 spark first.
pull lead from centre of dizzy and hold a 1/4" from block and get another to briefly crank engine.should have spark.if not you may need to invest in a multimeter with which to start chasing problem.thunderbolt v ignition test procedure will then have to be followed.
if all is well let us know.
